Sunol is a beautiful unincorporated rural area of
Alameda County in Northern California between Pleasanton
and Fremont, approximately 40 miles south-east of San
Francisco. There are about 1,500 residents, many of whom
live on the 4-mile, dead-end, Kilkare Road, which winds
along next to the Sinbad Creek between Sunol Ridge and
Pleasanton Ridge - some residents hold an annual informal
bet on when the creek will start running each year! The
I680 freeway and CA84, Niles Canyon Road, also both run
through the town.

The best web site for Sunol information is www.sunol.net
- a non-commercial site for and about the town of Sunol,
CA.
The town includes the Sunol
Glen School and Eagles'
Nest Childcare, Sunol Post Office (ZIP: 94586), Little
Brown Church of Sunol, Elliston
Vineyards, the Sunol
Business Guild, Sunol
Repertory Theatre, Sunol
Coffeehouse and Cafe (since 1906), Bosco's
Bones and Brew, several parks under the East
Bay Regional Park District (Pleasanton
Ridge with 100-year-old protected olive groves, and
the Sunol-Ohlone
Regional Wilderness with Little Yosemite and the
Maguire Peaks). Sunol has a 4-H
Club and several local environmental organizations,
including Save Our Sunol
and the Alameda
Creek Alliance. Other Sunol businesses include the
Sunol Market general store, the Whistle Stop Antique Store
and the Sunol Valley
Golf Club. The historic Niles
Canyon Railway runs steam trains on weekends from
Sunol to Niles.
Sunol is a great area for cycling, mountain biking,
hiking, horse-riding, golf and exploring the natural
world. Valley Oak trees and evergreen Coast Live Oak
predominate the vegetation and a wide range of wildlife
include turkeys, foxes, bobcats, coyotes, ground
squirrels, raccoons, skunks, golden eagles, redtail hawks
and of course, blacktail deer. Mountain lions are very
rare, but occasionally seen.
Sunol Glen School District
Sunol Glen
Unified School District is a special public school
district with a single school, Sunol Glen School, serving
about 200 children in Grades K-8. Most students graduate
from Sunol Glen to go on to High Schools in the Pleasanton
Unified School District: Foothill
High School or Amador
Valley High School.
I was elected in the November 2006 election to the
Board of Trustees for Sunol Glen Unified school District
for a 5-year term, expiring in 2011. My election platform
and comments can be found on my Sunol
blog.
Save Our Sunol
